Alfreton company Terra Nova has won an award for producing one of the world's lightest tents.

Terra Nova Equipment makes "super-light" backpacking and mountaineering gear and has been presented with an innovation award by the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild for its Laser Photon tent.

Weighing just 720g, it is 70g lighter than its predecessor.

Terra Nova's managing director Andy Utting, who collected the award at the guild's annual dinner, said: "Our philosophy is to design best-in-class products and this award demonstrates that the thought, research and hard work that goes into each of our products is working and we are achieving what we set out to do."
